JULY
10 July 10 (27)
Our team were called at 23.25 on Saturday night to assist
DSRT Plymouth in locating a missing D of E team. The six girls had been
en route from Holne to Gutter Tor. The search continued in poor
visibility and heavy rain until the team were stood down at 5.00 a.m.
having completed the search of their area. The missing youngsters
were located by the Police helicopter safe and well the following
morning about a mile east of our search area.
JUNE
17 June 10 (26)
The team were called mid morning to assist DSRT Ashburton in a search at Haldon Forest for a despondent male who had been missing overnight. Team members including two SARDA handlers searched in thick woodland and rough ground south of Exeter Racecourse for several hours until the search was suspended because further information had been received. The missing person was later located elsewhere and taken to hospital.

The team along with three SARDA dog handlers were called to assist Dartmoor
Search and Rescue team, Ashburton Section with an incident involving a
missing vulnerable 17 year old girl.
24 May 10 (24)
On 24th May DSRT Tavistock were called by the Police at about 9.00 p.m. to search for an elderly farmer who was missing in the St Mellion area. An extensive search was carried out, along with colleagues from DSRT Plymouth, Cornwall SRT and included six Search and Rescue dogs. The search continued until 1.30 a.m. and was recommenced early on Tuesday morning. The missing gentleman was found mid morning, feeling cold but otherwise well.

The team were called at mid afternoon by the ambulance service to locate a
67 year old male on Dartmoor, who was reported to be ill and unable to proceed further. Visibility was extremely poor but after a brief search the casualty was located near to Leeden Tor and treated for a suspected heart attack. He was then
stretchered down by the team to the waiting SWAST ambulance for transport to
hospital.

Three of the teams SARDA handlers were called to assist Cornwall SRT in a search for a 10 year old autistic boy missing from home,
he was located safe and well by Police

Three team SARDA handlers were called to assist Dartmoor SRT Ashburton in a search for a 67 year old female with alkzimer's, she was found by Police cold & wet 7 miles from the point last seen

20 APR 10 (20)
The Team were called at 12.30 to assist South West Ambulance Service Trust to recover a casualty from the Moor. He had sustained a lower leg injury whilst walking near Wistmans Wood and the ambulance personnel were unable to evacuate him to their vehicle. Team members used our wheeled stretcher to transport the casualty to the roadhead at Two Bridges.

Two of the teams SARDA handlers along with team members as navigators were called by Avon & Somerset Police and asked to search
fields around the town of Crewkerne for a missing 57 Year old man with Parkinson's
disease.

The team were called by the Police at 21.00 to assist in their search in the Gunnislake area for a missing nine year old girl. We were stood down as deployment was underway, as she had been located, safe and well, by Police.

Whilst en route to incident in Quantock Hills two of our SARDA Dog
Handlers were tasked to a search in Braunton for a female despondent who had been missing over night. As resources were being divided, and rerouted the misper was located and we regrouped to continue to the previous tasking in the Quantocks

Two of the teams SARDA handlers were called by Avon & Somerset Police and asked to search other parts of the woodland, after their enquires got new information.

Three of the teams SARDA handlers with team members as navigators were called to assist Exmoor SRT in a search for 39 year old despondent male in woodland in the Quantock Hills, nothing found Police enquires on going.

06 MAR 10 (14)
Dartmoor Search & Rescue Team, Tavistock were called during Saturday evening to search for a forty year old man, who was lost on Southern Dartmoor between Erme Pits and Princetown.
There were concerns for his safety as it was extremely windy and cold on the high Moor.
Tavistock team, including a search dog, with the assistance of some members of Ashburton and Plymouth teams and also the Police helicopter carried out an extensive, prolonged search which ended successfully when the missing person was found near the old Eylesbarrow Mine at 2.30 in the morning.

17 FEB 10 (13)
The team were called to assist SWAST with an unconscious female on military exercise near Hen Tor. Stood down before deployment commenced as air ambulance had managed to locate CAS
site.
16 FEB 10 (12)
The team were called out at 5.20 am to assist DSRT Plymouth and
Ashburton sections in the search for a missing 71 year old male walker
in the Harford Moor Gate area of the moor. The walker had been out all
night and eventually found a cottage and called for help.
15 FEB 10 (11)
The team were called then to search from Highdown for a missing 60 yr old male. Stood down as we were deploying as he had been located in a nearby pub.

SARDA handlers and team members as navigators were called to assist Dartmoor SRT Plymouth in a search for a 73 year old female missing from home, stood down on route when she was located safe and well.

Three of the teams SARDA dogs and team members as navigators were called to assist Cornwall SRT in a search for a 63 year old female missing from home, stood down on route when she was located by
Police.
January
30/31
JAN 10 (07/08)
In a addition to Friday 29th Januarys search the team plus several SARDA dog handlers were called out to assist
Cornwall SRT in the search for a missing despondent 24 year old male in
the Launceston area.
The search continued all day Saturday and was re-instated Sunday before eventually being
stood down with nothing found.

JAN 10 (06)
The team plus several SARDA dog handlers were called out to assist
Cornwall SRT in the search for a missing despondent 24 year old male in
the Launceston area. The search went on for several hours before being
relocated to an area near to Ambrosia.
The team were eventually stood down with nothing found late into the
afternoon.

JAN 10 (05)
The team were called again during the afternoon to assist SWAST, to stretcher an injured lady to their ambulance. The casualty had fallen from a rock while walking down from Sheepstor and suffered leg and wrist injuries.

The team were called mid afternoon to assist SWAST in dealing with a canoeist who had been injured in Tavy Cleave while paddling down the River Tavy . On arrival it was found he had made his way to an attending ambulance.

On Friday 15 January 2010 three of the team SARDA handlers together with other SARDA handlers on the Annual SARDAE Lakes course were called out to assist Keswick Team with an avalanche on Hind Crag Gully, Seathwaite.
Stood down as no longer required as climbers located safe and well by members of Keswick MRT short time later after original callout.

JAN 10 (02)
Four of the teams SARDA dog handlers along with members of
the team as navigators assisted Devon and Cornwall Police and Cornwall SRT in the
search for a missing person on Bodmin Moor.
The search lasted throughout daylight hours but nothing was found. The
search was due to continue on Sunday but was stood down when the police
received new information.

JAN 10 (01)
Four of the teams SARDA dog handlers along with several other members of
the team assisted Devon and Cornwall Police and Ashburton SRT in the
search for a missing person in the woods around Berry Pomeroy Castle.
The search lasted throughout daylight hours but nothing was found.
